Early Aberdeen Duns

Sir Patrick Dun Principal of Marischal College 1621-1649, benefactor of Aberdeen Grammar School - thus starting the long connection the family had with that institution.

Nephew of Principal Dun "born in the first decade of the 17th century. Said to have been state-physician to the earl of Essex, 1640" He bequeathed his library to the College Scottish Notes and Queries, June 1896 Vol X p.6

The arms of Aberdeen Grammar School carry further evidence of the long connection the Dun family had with the school.
